The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate admissions (CUET UG 2025), originally set to begin on May 8, is now likely to be postponed to May 13, as per credible media reports and internal sources. While the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not issued an official notice yet, students are strongly advised to prepare for a revised exam schedule to be announced soon.
The main reason behind the possible postponement is the delay in issuing city intimation slips—documents that inform students where their exams will be held. These are typically released a week in advance to allow students to plan travel and logistics. However, with just two days left for the exam, many candidates still have no clarity on their exam centers.
A senior NTA official, speaking anonymously, said:
“It’s not ideal to keep students in the dark. A short postponement is better than last-minute panic. We’re working on releasing slips and a new schedule soon.”
Here’s what students can expect in the coming days:
The exam will be held in computer-based test (CBT) mode, in multiple shifts across centers in India. Over 13.5 lakh students are registered this year, making CUET the second-largest entrance test in India after NEET.
Students across the country are feeling the pressure of uncertainty. Many are turning to social media to express their concerns.
“I’ve been checking the NTA site every hour. With no update and travel to plan, it’s frustrating,” said Kavya Sharma, a CUET aspirant from Jaipur.
“We’ve adjusted our study schedules assuming May 8 start. Now we don’t know what to focus on,” said Aman Raj, a coaching student from Patna.
Many have asked NTA to provide at least 4–5 days’ notice before the exam, especially for those who need to travel to distant centers.
Despite the delay, this extra time can be used wisely. Here’s what students and parents should focus on:
Education professionals believe a short delay is a wise decision.
“It’s better to prioritize student convenience and fairness over rushing into exams. NTA must ensure students are not burdened by logistics,” said Meera Sinha, an academic advisor based in Delhi.
Many are also calling for a more transparent and timely communication process in future years, especially given CUET’s growing importance as a centralized admission gateway to 250+ universities.
Until NTA releases the revised schedule, students are encouraged to stay calm, avoid misinformation, and use this time effectively. All official updates will be published on the CUET UG and NTA websites and may also be sent via email or SMS to registered candidates.
“We’ve prepared so hard for this day. All we want now is clarity and fair time to reach our exam centers,” said Shreya, a Class 12 student from Bhopal.
