Since Modi became Prime Minister, his birthday has marked the start of “Seva Pakhwada” (fortnight of service), with 11 consecutive years of activities focused on welfare and public good from September 17 to October 2. Shah underscored this tradition as part of the government’s campaign to uplift marginalized communities and help India excel globally by the nation’s centenary in 2047.
He also cited impressive welfare achievements, stating that under Modi’s leadership, basic facilities have reached 60 crore citizens and 25 crore have risen above the poverty line—a message meant to inspire youth across the country.
Home Minister Shah defended the central government’s unwavering support for Delhi, regardless of party politics, referencing health insurance initiatives and tax cuts on essential goods. He contrasted this proactive stance with previous governments’ alleged discrimination against the capital.
Highlighting broader political debates, Shah criticized opposition parties, alleging efforts to retain “infiltrators” on voter lists for electoral advantage, while stressing the Modi government’s commitment to clean governance.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other BJP leaders expressed gratitude, describing Modi as the “architect of Atmanirbhar Bharat.” They praised the Centre’s role during challenges like Covid-19 and emphasized that the current government “serves everyone without discrimination or political bias.”
The day also saw Union ministers inaugurate several Ayushman Arogya Mandir clinics, further demonstrating the government’s intent to push forward on health and welfare across Delhi.
Delhi saw the launch of 17 major projects worth Rs 1,723 crore, including five new hospital blocks, 101 Ayushman Arogya Mandir clinics, 150 dialysis machines, registration of 50,000 people for old-age pension, and ten new resource centers for children with special needs.
Seva Pakhwada is a “fortnight of service” observed from September 17 (PM Modi’s birthday) to October 2, marked by various welfare initiatives and cleanliness drives. This tradition has been followed for the last 11 years since PM Modi became Prime Minister.
