Students who missed the initial admission cycle for Delhi government schools now have a second chance. The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi has announced a second round of admissions for Classes X and XII for the 2025–26 academic session. This opportunity is open only to Delhi residents, and applies to regular government schools, excluding RPVVs, Schools of Excellence, and Specialised Excellence Schools.
Students residing in Delhi who meet the academic eligibility can apply. For Class X, students must have passed Class IX. For Class XII, students must have passed Class XI in the 2024–25 session and also meet the minimum subject-wise marks required for their preferred stream, based on Class X board results.
This round is particularly beneficial for:
Applications will be accepted from July 9 to July 23, 2025, via the official DoE website.
Admit cards will be released on July 30, 2025.
The Common Admission Test (CAT-II) will be held on August 2, from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Results will be announced by August 6, and final admissions must be completed by August 30, 2025.
CAT-II is a written eligibility test designed to assess readiness for Class X or XII. The syllabus includes core subjects relevant to the class and stream the student is applying for. For Class X, this may include English, Mathematics, and Science. For Class XII, it varies by stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts).
Performance in CAT-II will determine admission eligibility and seat allotment. The DoE typically provides sample papers or guidelines, so students should check the portal regularly.
This round does not apply to admissions for Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas (RPVVs), Schools of Excellence (SoE), or Specialised Excellence Schools. These institutions follow separate entrance exam procedures.
Every year, hundreds of eligible students are left out of the formal school system due to missed deadlines, personal challenges, or lack of awareness. This round gives them a second chance to continue their education and work toward their Class X or XII board exams without losing a full academic year.
All applications must be submitted online via the official Directorate of Education portal: www.edudel.nic.in
Make sure to submit your application before the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

Yes. Anyone applying through this round must appear for CAT-II. Admission decisions will be based on performance in this test.
Subjects will depend on the class and stream. For Class X: English, Math, and Science. For Class XII: Stream-specific subjects like Physics, Accountancy, or Political Science, based on your selected stream.
School allotments are subject to availability of seats and your performance in the CAT-II exam.
This is an important window for students who, for any reason, couldn’t secure admission earlier. The process is structured and competitive, but it’s also designed to be inclusive. If you or someone you know missed out in March, this is the chance to get back on track.
Visit www.edudel.nic.in between July 9 and 23 to begin the process.
If you need help with the application, reach out to your nearest government school or guidance counselor.
