Museo Camera

A museum of old cameras and photography on Shri Ganesh Mandir Marg, DLF Phase 4, a few minutes from Galleria Market. A good indoor plan for a hot afternoon.

What it is

Museo Camera is a museum of photography built around a large collection of cameras, from early models to the film cameras many parents will remember from their own childhood. It also shows photographs and holds exhibitions. Children usually enjoy seeing how a picture was taken before phones, and adults tend to find a camera their family once owned. Its full name is the Museo Camera Centre for the Photographic Arts, and the collection rewards a slow walk round with time to read the labels.

Getting there

The address is Shri Ganesh Mandir Marg, DLF Phase IV, Sector 28. No metro station is within easy walking distance. IFFCO Chowk and Millennium City Centre on the Yellow Line are the closest, and an auto or cab from either is the simple way. Galleria Market is near enough to combine the two in one outing.

When to go

It is open from 11 am to 7 pm and closed on Mondays. Weekday afternoons are the quietest time. Weekends see more families, so go soon after opening if you want the galleries to yourself.

Good to know

Tickets are sold at the counter: Rs 200 for Indian nationals and Rs 300 for foreign nationals. An audio guide costs Rs 150 and is worth taking if you want the stories behind the cameras. Allow an hour or two.
