Moving to Delhi NCR

Moving to Delhi NCR

Pick the area first, then the home, then the school. In that order, most families avoid a second move a year later.

In the order that saves the most trouble

  1. Choose the city by the daily trip. Work out where the main earner and the children go every day, then look at the metro and the roads between. An hour each way, twice a day, decides more than the flat does. Open the metro map.
  2. Shortlist two or three neighbourhoods. Read what living there is like, where the markets and parks are, and the honest downsides. All neighbourhood guides.
  3. Visit at the worst time. Go at rush hour, and once after heavy rain if you can. Ask the guard and the shopkeepers what summer and the monsoon are like.
  4. Check the schools before you sign. Look at the schools near each area and their admission windows before you sign a lease. A mid-year switch is much harder than a move timed to the new session. Find schools by area · Admission dates.
  5. Then the home. Ask about water supply, power backup, parking and the society’s rules on pets and maintenance before you pay a deposit.

The first month, city by city

Not sure about an area? Ask someone who lives there. Residents and parents answer, and we check before it goes up.
