ISKCON Ghaziabad

A Krishna temple on a residential street in Raj Nagar, with kirtan every evening and a calm hall away from the traffic of Meerut Road.

What it is

The ISKCON temple is in Block 11 of Raj Nagar, among houses rather than on a main road. Radha and Krishna are the main deities, and the altar also has Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra, Gaur Nitai and Srila Prabhupada. The evening Sandhya aarti and kirtan, at about 6:45 pm, is the one most families come for.

Getting there

Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) on the Red Line is the nearest metro, and an auto into Raj Nagar from there is quick. The Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station at Meerut Tiraha is close too. Parking is on the street, so come early on festival days.

When to go

Janmashtami is the biggest day of the year here, with crowds late into the night. On an ordinary day, come for the evening aarti, or on a Sunday morning, when the morning session runs an hour longer. The temple shuts between 1 pm and 4 pm, so do not turn up after lunch.

Good to know

Prasad is available, and visitors are welcome to join the kirtan or simply sit at the back and listen. Shoes go at the stand by the entrance. Mangala aarti is at 4:30 am, for anyone who wants the quiet early start. Dress simply and keep phones on silent inside the hall. Children are welcome, and many families bring them for the evening kirtan.
